Elementary Schools cater to the educational needs of students until the fifth grade and include Aspen, Clark, North, and Uinta Meadows Elementary schools.
From grades six through eight, students attend either David or Evanston Middle School, after which point they transfer to Evanston High School to complete their secondary educations.
There is also one alternative school in the area called Horizon School catering to grades six through twelfth.
Vision
The vision of the UCSD #1 is that all students will become prepared to meet the demands of 21st Century citizenship and receive opportunities to build successful interpersonal relationships, secure vocational placements, and achieve post-secondary educations.
In order to arrive at this goal, the district provides powerful and effective instruction that is both relevant and challenging while ensuring students are supported and nurtured by a safe and positive environment.
Educators in the district are committed to providing daily experiences that prepare students by allowing them to build important relationships and put forth their best efforts.
Curriculum
The curriculum of the UCSD #1 is performance-based and emphasizes a comprehensive understanding of core subjects determined by challenging state-wide standards and benchmarks.
These rigorous standards have been adopted and implemented in order to raise the level of achievement amongst the student population and insure that all students have a wide selection of opportunities following graduation for grants, research positions, and acceptance at institutions for higher learning.
Grants
The UCSD Number One oversees a Grant Department that works to coordinate and distribute Federal monies including Title I, Title II-A, Title II-D, Title IV, Title V, Title VI-B and Perkins grants. These awards are merit based and designed to increase opportunities to deserving students in order to insure maximum growth and holistic accountability.
Extra Curricular Activities
Extra and Co-curricular activities are an important component of the mission of Uinta County School District, as students involved with these activities make, on average, nine percent more money than those who abstain and enroll only in academics. Additionally, the involvement of students in extra-curricular activities supports the mission of the district while building character and allowing further educational opportunities.
The district firmly believes that these programs are an extension of existing educational programs, rather than an aside or distraction.
These activities provide valuable lessons in teamwork, sportsmanship, ethic, competition, and change. Currently, many schools in the district offer programs such as band, choir, football, volleyball, swimming, wrestling, basketball, track, mathletes, science fairs, spelling bees, drama teams, student council, speech teams, dance teams, cheerleading, student journalism, cross county, golf, and much more!
